The Arts Pledge
Connecting people, practice, and purpose
The Arts Pledge exists to help ensure every child and young person can access meaningful, high-quality arts and cultural experiences.

Strengthen identity and wellbeing
Expands opportunity for all young people
Our purpose is to secure every child’s right to meaningful arts and cultural experiences.

About The Arts Pledge
Arts and culture are at the heart of what it means to be human.
They shape how we make meaning, express identity, build community and imagine new possibilities. When children and young people engage deeply with high-quality arts and cultural experiences, they develop confidence, resilience, motivation and a strong sense of belonging. Research shows that sustained arts participation promotes higher achievement and greater aspirations, particularly for those facing disadvantage.
Inspiring Creative Communities
The Arts Pledge is a growing movement which ensures every child and young person benefits from this entitlement. We bring together schools, artists, cultural organisations and communities to cultivate rich, inclusive and inspiring creative communities. Through long-term collaboration, we place creativity at the heart of education: nurturing talent, strengthening wellbeing and expanding opportunity.
An Arts Pledge is both a commitment and a collective promise: to widen access, grow cultural capital and ensure that background does not determine creative opportunity.
It is about building environments where all young people feel safe to take risks, realise their potential and thrive. Together, we are shaping a more equitable, imaginative and culturally confident future, for all.

The Benefits
Arts and cultural education nurtures imagination, strengthens community identity, enhances wellbeing, and expands future opportunities. When schools and communities work together to close enrichment and entitlement gaps, the impact is transformative.
Our Commitment
Each pledge strengthens the wider network. Schools and partners share expertise, build confidence, and expand opportunity across arts and education.
Long term change
We drive long-term positive change through collaboration, research, and professional support.
Networked nationally
Shaped by local communities and strengthened through national collaboration.
Built for lasting change
Focused on sustainable, long-term impact that continues beyond individual projects.
Evidence-informed practice
We are guided by research and grounded in proven real-world experience.
